As you have probably heard through the grapevine that we will have the man, the legend Robert Kacher in our store Tonight February 8 from 5-8 pm.

Also starring with Bobby will be Steve Silver, Creator of the VineWorthy Newsletter and Former Proprietor of Pearson's (Mentor of mine also) along with Ronnie Miller of Kacher Selections.

And let's not forget about the wines as we will be tasting some incredible 2007 Rhone Wines. You probably have heard by now from Robert Parker and Wine Spectator how great these wines are and overall they may be some of the best wines ever produced from the region. Add these great wines with Bobby, Steve, and Ronnie and you have one spectacular night.

Wine Advocate 88 points: "IThe 2007 red, a blend of 47% Grenache and equal parts Carignan and Syrah, all fermented and aged in tank, is a sleeper selection. Deep ruby/purple-tinged with lots of cassis, raspberry, licorice, and forest floor, the wine exhibits excellent ripeness, a delicious, silky mid-palate, and a good finish. This is a very good bargain and worth drinking over the next two years."

MAS DE GUIOT GRENACHE-SYRAH COSTIERES DE NIMES 2007
Robert Kacher's Notes: "The blend for this bottling is 40% Grenache and 60% Syrah, both grown at very low yields and hand- harvested. This is a very sexy wine with strong concentration. Bottled unfiltered. A great value!"
Wine Advocate 89 points: "It is somewhat confusing, but under the Mas de Guiot label, their 2007 Vin de Pays, made from 60% Syrah and 40% Grenache, is a winner. There are just under 3,500 cases of this wine, which displays a dense ruby/purple color and beautiful, sweet creme de cassis fruit intermixed with touches of forest floor, acacia flowers, and earth. Aged in tank and old barrels, the wine is dense and richly fruity, with silky tannins. It should be drunk over the next 1-2 years, as the real value of these wines is their exuberance and rich fruit.."

Robert Kacher's Notes: "Chateauneuf du Pape legend Andre Brunel fashions this rich, full-bodied Rhone white. This Cotes du Rhone Blanc offers aromas of sweet honeysuckle and flavors of apricots, peaches and minerals. A blend of 55% Roussanne, 30% Grenache Blanc and 15% Clairette, this wine is bottled in early March for freshness and vibrancy. Domaine de la Becassonne is always considered among the region's finest white Cotes du Rhone."

MAS DE GUIOT CABERNET-SYRAH PRESTIGE COSTIERES DE NIMES 2007
Robert Kacher's Notes: "A blend of 60% Cabernet and 40% Syrah, this wine is aged for up to one year in barrel, and then bottled unfiltered. It is dark ruby-violet in color, with juicy, jammy blue/black fruits with raspberry, currants and violets on the nose. Smooth and ripe in the mouth with dark berry, meat and smoke flavors - there are no hard edges in this wine. Always a favorite!"
Wine Advocate 89 points: "The 2007 Vin de Pays blend of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon and 40% Syrah (by the way, the labels actually say this on the front so it is impossible to confuse them) exhibits even more complex aromatics of tobacco leaf, spice box, black currant, cedar, and earth. In the mouth, the wine has exuberant fruit, a full- bodied mouthfeel, and surprising elegance and purity. This is another impressive wine to drink over the next 2-3 years."

Robert Kacher's Notes: "The Vieilles Vignes is 70% Grenache, 25% Syrah, 5% Mourvèdre. Average vine age is 40+ years. Fruit is harvested very late  sur maturite (super ripe). The Vieilles Vignes is a blend of fruit from Gigondas neighboring villages of Vacqueyras (25%), Rasteau (25%), Seguret (25%) and Rouaix (25%). This wine is technically a Cotes du Rhone Villages, as it comes from the best designated villages in the appellation."

DOMAINE FONT DE MICHELLE CHATEAUNEUF DU PAPE 2007
Robert Kacher's Notes: "This Chateauneuf-du-Pape shows exotic and floral aromas on the nose, with bright red berry and plum aromas lifted by clove and cinnamon. It is quite ripe, with deep flavors of bitter cherry, intense spices and smoke. The finish is luscious and long, with very gentle tannins. 70% Grenache, 45 to 65 years old, picked late  sur maturite  super ripe. 15% Syrah, average vine age 30 years old. 15% Mourvedre, average vine age 30+ years old. Half the fruit is de-stemmed. The Grenache is aged in foudres, the Syrah & Mourvedre are made in small casks."
International Wine Cellar (Stephen Tanzer) 90-93 points: "Deep red. Highly expressive aromas of red berries, smoky herbs, Asian spices and minerals. Smooth and silky, with sweet raspberry and kirsch flavors and no obvious tannins. A seductive, juicy wine that finishes with excellent breadth and precision. I suspect this will be alluring on release."

DOMAINE LES CAILLOUX CHATEAUNEUF DU PAPE 2007
Robert Kacher's Notes: "Les Cailloux Rouge has become the standard to which others are compared with its high-toned sur maturite (very-ripe) nose of sweet cherry-raspberry jam, hints of stewed fruits and sweet herbs. This wine is deep and chewy with plenty of ripe tannins and layers of seductive fruit. The finish is extremely long and concentrated. The assemblage is always around 65% old-vine Grenache (80-110 years old); 20% Mourvedre and 15% Syrah. Each varietal is vinified separately. The Grenache is vinified using the whole cluster to maximize color and aromatics and aged in foudres or tank while the Mourvedre and Syrah is aged in small oak barrels for 18-24 months."
Wine Advocate 93 points: "Two brilliant successes are Brunels cuvees of 2007 Chateauneuf du Pape. The 2007 Les Cailloux Tradition (a blend of 65% Grenache, 20% Mourvedre, 12% Syrah, and 3% other authorized varieties) comes from 60-year-old vines and is aged completely in tank except for the Mourvedre and Syrah components, which are kept in small barrels. Explosively fruity, this dense plum/purple-colored wine displays grilled meat notes intermixed with Provencal herbs, spice box, black cherry and black currant, in addition to having a lush, opulent texture. The finish goes on and on, and the wine is beautifully pure. It can be drunk now or cellared for 12 or more years."
