The Tasting Panel gave this 2009 vintage 90 points describing it as a “pleasing and vivacious value driven slice of sunshine.” We couldn’t agree more! The grapes used to craft this classic Bordeaux-style Merlot originate from the renowned region of Pomerol, France and grow on the clay soil of the Sierra foothills of California. The result is a medium-bodied wine offering both black and red fruits, alongside of vanilla and spicy cedar. It will pair seamlessly with richer meats like lamb and beef.
Three-quarters of the grapes for our 2005 Merlot came from vineyards in the Oakville, Rutherford and Calistoga districts of upper Napa Valley, with the balance from the cooler Carneros district.
Fruit aromas keyed on fresh black cherry, blueberry and plum, with fragrant scents of rose petal, tea-leaf, tobacco and cocoa adding interest and complexity. On the compact, supple palate, vibrant cherry, blackberry and cassis flavors are enlivened by a zesty black-tea spiciness that segues into a long, cocoa-tinged finish.

This intensely‐colored wine displays aromas of plum jam and blackberry syrup, framed by hints of baker's spices, vanilla, licorice, graphite and toast. In the mouth, the wine has bright and concentrated forward fruit supported by mid–palate volume, a distinctive fine–grained tannin structure and a lengthy cocoa–dominated finish.

The 2010 Decoy Sonoma County Merlot is lush and enticing with aromas that strike an appealing balance between vibrant cranberry and deeper, dark berry notes, with sophisticated hints of white pepper and forest floor. The palate is rich and beautifully structured, offering a lush core of dark, ripe fruit wrapped in smooth, firmly textured tannins.

Bee Bee's then slowly spreads to the rest of the pallet revealing depth with hints of blackberry and elderberry. The Poggio Bestiale vineyard covers approximately 20 hectares of land in the town of Magliano in the production area of Maremma. Its proximity to the Tyrrhenian coast allows the vines to benefit from the Meditteranean climate. Intense, bold aromas of cherry and raspberry abound. Full-bodied and persistent with smoky, spicy, and earthy flavors. Ripe, sweet tannins and ample acidity finish off this wine.
"The 2008 Poggio Bestiale flows from the glass with layers of succulent red cherries, menthol, licorice and sweet spices. An authoritative finish rounds out this polished, super-ripe wine. This is an excellent showing from Fattoria di Magliano. Poggio Bestiale is 50% Merlot, 30% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Cabernet Franc and 5% Petit Verdot. The wine spent 16 months in French oak barrels." 78% Merlot, 18% Cabernet Sauvignon, 4% Petit Verdot. The 2008 Columbia Valley Merlot offers up aromas of balsam wood, spice box, tobacco, violets, cassis, and blackberry. Savory on the palate, ifslightly austere, another 1-2 years of bottle should fill the wine out. It will drink well through 2023.
78% Merlot, 9% Cabernet Franc, 6% Malbec, 5% Petit Verdot, 2% Cabernet Sauvignon.Powerful is a way to describe the 2009 PlumpJack Merlot. Primary aromas of baked plums, cardamom, mulling spices and blackberry are followed by aromas of chocolate, vanilla beans and coffee. On the palate flavors of berry cobbler, plums and cocoa are followed by flavors of herbes de Provence, cedar and cigar smoke. The 2009 shows more firmness than the 2008 and will be at its best with two hours of decanting. We like to describe this wine as the “vin de garde” of the last three vintages of Merlot.
