With the goal of expressing a comprehensive expression of the appellation, we selected five unique vineyard sites to create this Sta. Rita Hills bottling.  This blend is comprised of Mount Carmel, 3-D, Gnesa, Sea Smoke and Zotovich.  While each lot is handled separately and in a completely uniform fashion in the winery, each contributes vastly different expressions which ultimately harmonize in the finished wine.

The imprint of our 2010 Chardonnay's terroir is readily apparent in the aromatics, flavors and textures. While displaying a bit more elegance than recent vintages, the wine is still wonderfully intense and powerful with notes of baked apple, hazelnuts, lemon peel, nutmeg, brioche and cream.

There is a delicate smoothness to this Chardonnay and fantastic weight throughout. This vineyard is 7 acres with 20 year old vines. The wine is light yellow in color with a faint golden hue. It has a gorgeous perfume with floral and citrus nuances and is finesseful and balanced with floral and citrus notes and a lovely crisp finish.

This vineyard consists of 4 acres of 17 year old vines. The wine is light yellow in color and has a lovely complex perfume with floral, peach, citrus nuances and a faint hint of mineral and pineapple. With lovely complex fruit flavors accented by a flinty, Chablis-like quality, this is delicious to drink now. As the wine ages I would expect that it should show even more depth.

900 Cases Produced This is the second vintage in which 20% of Failla's young-vine Chardonnay blend was fermented and aged in concrete egg vessels. The remainder fermented and aged for 10 months in French oak, only 15% new and barely perceptible in the finished wine's flinty nose balanced with citrusy scents of grapefruit and lime filled out with a hint of jasmine and oyster-shell. The textural contributions of the concrete-fermented lots nicely balance the wine's vibrant mouth-watering acidity.

This is firm in acidity, bracing in minerals and bone dry. That makes it sound austere, but you'll find delicious apricot, lime and citron flavors, enhanced by sweet oak.

This unoaked wine captures the pure, clean expression of Chardonnay from our Mer Soleil Vineyard in the Santa Lucia Highlands of Monterey County.? The mineral essence is reminiscent of the classic Chablis style with the tropical elements found in the Chardonnays of the Pacific Coastline. Grapes are fermented in cement tanks, without oak contact.
