As the temperature rises in California’s central coast during the hottest hours of the day, the vineyards at 24 Knots are blessed with cool marine winds which sweep through at an unbelievable 30 miles per hour, which, in nautical terms, is equivalent to a speed of 24 knots, hence the name… This very structured and balanced wine offers aromas of strawberry and black cherry, accompanied by hint of toast. It has a vivid acidity and a long silky finish.

This Pommard 1er Cru “Clos Micault” has a beautiful garnet color. Elegant to the nose, it develops aromas of back fruits, coffee and vanilla, supported by soft spice and pepper notes. Fleshy and supple in the mouth, its tannins are well incorporated, the wooden notes are subtle and the finish lingers forever…

A round, fruit-powered, appealing mix of delicious citrus, berry and plum flavors. Highlights of orange peel and baking spices are underscored by bracing acidity. Grapes are entirely from the Clawson Creek estate vineyard. Wine Enthusiast 90 Points
The 2009 Charmes-Chambertin emerges from the glass with lovely radiance and openness in its ripe, juicy fruit. The Charmes is already rather forward, and at this stage appears to be a relatively early-maturing wine. The oak is also a bit pronounced. Sweet, textured floral notes wrap around the long, polished finish. Rousseau’s Charmes is technically 60% Mazoyeres. Anticipated maturity: 2015-2029.
The 2009 Gevrey-Chambertin is pure silk on the palate. Layers of flavor emerge gracefully from this weightless, totally refined wine. A model of understated elegance, the Gevrey makes a great introduction to the wines of Eric Rousseau.

"The 2009 Pinot Noir Ampelos comes across as quite energetic and tightly wound. Dark cherries, plums, sweet spices and menthol emerge, but only with great reluctance. Sweet floral notes and licorice appear later, adding complexity and nuance to the red fruit. There is marvelous integrity in the glass; the only thing needed is time." Wine Advocate (92 Points)

A notably floral-infused nose of red berry fruit also reflects a discreet note of new wood that complements the rich, dense, serious and palate staining medium-bodied flavors that possess fine complexity on the balanced and quite firm finish. This should be excellent in time.Burghound 90-92 Points
Full red with ruby tones. Incredible high-pitched nose combines raspberry, pepper, rose petal, red licorice, crushed stone, flowers, menthol and eucalyptus. The palate offers extraordinary sweetness but the wine's minerally lift and intense sappiness gives it a weightless impression. Shows the noble side of Corton grand cru, not to mention uncanny intensity; Faiveley made 42 hectoliters per hectare in 2009, but the wine tastes like half that. Finishes with incredible length and verve; offhand, I can't think of a longer 2009. Should be a cellar treasure.Stephen Tanzer International Wine Cellar 97+ Points
Dark and lush, this black cherry- and blackberry-laced red is silky and succulent. Well-balanced and moderately long, if not very complex. Best from 2013 through 2020.
"Sometimes in a challenging vintage such as 2009, it is the least expensive, blended wines that benefit most, perhaps because grapes normally destined for the single-vineyard wines are redirected. Here, rich fruit flavors highlighted with streaks of caramel and toffee get things rolling quickly. Berries and cherries, firm acids, pretty spice and a lingering butterscotch finish." Wine Enthusiast 91 Points"The Serene 2009 Pinot Noir Yamhill Cuvee offers sweeter red berry flavors than does the corresponding 2010, with brown spice accents and nicely integrated tannic chew. Pure-fruited and with ample finishing juiciness, this betrays none of its vintage’s weak sides and ought to drink well for another several years." Wine Advocate
Deep crimson-garnet in color with bluish highlights on the rim. Fresh blueberry and elegant spice aromas of clove and mace are matched with flavors of blackberry, and dried cherry. Bright acidity and supple tannins that are followed by a long, silky finish.
2009 Pinot Noir is a bit more forward than prior vintages, leaning more to the black-fruit vs. red fruit side on both the nose and palate. The palate retains a fresh and focused acidity that complements the fine and subtle tannins.
"Vivid ruby. Pungent aromas of cherry, black raspberry and violet. Lively dark fruit flavors are lifted by lively, integrated acidity. Dense but nicely delineated, with a sexy floral nuance emerging with aeration. Finishes with fine-grained tannins and notes of candied rose and mocha. This benefits a lot from air." MacLean's Block Pinot Noir is noted for its very powerful and complex signature of dark strawberry, mocha and earth aromas, and dark cherry and mocha-spice flavors.?Focused layers of complexity and a long finish reminiscent of minerals and slate provide this small batch Pinot gem with enough structure to be an excellent candidate for long term cellaring.
The 2009 Pinot Noir MacLean's Block is a big, masculine wine bursting with expressive dark fruit. Firm tannins provide the backbone in this virile, unique Pinot. The MacLean's will appeal most to readers who appreciate a bigger, firmer style of Pinot.Wine Advocate 91 Points
