The 2002 Llicorella Seleccio raises the bar significantly. It is a blend of Garnacha Negra, Carinena, Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah aged for 12-14 months in French and American oak. Dark ruby in color, it has a fragrant bouquet of pain grille, leather, mineral, meat, blue and black fruits which jumps from the glass. The wine has terrific grip, a racy style, and intense, sweet fruit. The finish is long and pure.

Red | Proprietary Red | Spain | Rioja | 750ml

"The 2005 Allende has an opulent, licorice and cured meat-tinged nose that is complex and vibrant. The palate is well-balanced with an attractive edginess on the entry. The tannins are ripe and bold, with the finish packed full of blackberry, raspberry, soy and dried herbs that show fine persistency. Drink 2014-2020+." Wine Advocate (91 Points)

Red | Proprietary Red | Spain | Bierzo | 750ml

The 2008 Flavium Premium Mencia spent 20 months in French and American oak. Opulent, rich, and lengthy, it has the balance to drink well for 6-8 years but at the asking price most consumers will want to grab some immediate gratification.

2009 Bodegas Mas Alta - La Basseta Priorat
2009 Bodegas Mas Alta - La Basseta Priorat $84.95 $67.95

Red | Proprietary Red | Spain | Priorat | 750ml

"The 2009 La Basseta is purple black in color with a brooding bouquet of liquid minerals, licorice, tapenade, a hint of balsamic, black cherry, and blackberry. On the palate it reveals greater richness than the 2008 with plush fruit, succulent flavors, and enough ripe tannin to evolve for 4-6 years. It will be at its best from 2015 to 2029." Wine Advocate (95)

2009 Camins - Priorat
2009 Camins - Priorat $27.99

Red | Proprietary Red | Spain | Catalonia | 750ml

"The 2009 Camins del Priorat possesses an intriguing, alluring bouquet with lifted aromas of damson, red currant and pressed flowers that unfurl with a few swirls of the glass. The full-bodied palate is defined by its fleshy tannins on the entry, yet its corpulence does not obscure its attractive minerally core. The sappy finish grips the mouth, and its backbone suggests it will benefit from 3 to 5 year’s aging." Wine Advocate (90 Points)

The 2009 Nita is a rare, value-priced Priorat that over-delivers in a big way. This unoaked cuvee, made by Meritxell Palleja from purchased fruit, is a blend of 45% Garnacha, 35% Carinena, with the balance Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah. It displays a fragrant bouquet of liquid minerality, lavender, incense, black cherry, and black raspberry. This leads to a concentrated, forward, savory offering with layers of ripe fruit, succulent flavors, good acidity, and excellent freshness. Although it has the stuffing to evolve for several years, it can be approached now. It is a great introduction to the DO of Priorat. Wine Advocate 92 Points

Glass-staining ruby. Raspberry, cherry-cola and spices on the highly fragrant nose. Sweet and supple in texture, with lush red and dark berry flavors, notes of white pepper and violet and no rough edges. Expands on the finish, which features juicy cherry and blackberry qualities. I find this awfully delicious right now but it has the depth to age. International Wine Cellar 91 Points

(70% garnacha, 25% carinena and 5% cabernet sauvignon, aged for 16 months in small French oak): Bright purple. Powerful aromas of blackberry, blueberry and Asian spices. Weighty dark berry flavors display a liqueur-like depth, with zesty minerality providing lift. Smooth tannins give support and grip to a long, sweet, penetrating finish.

"The 2010 Blau is initially taciturn on the nose, broody and with attractive herbaceous notes infusing the black fruit profile. The palate is sharp and fresh on the entry with crisp tannins and an edgy, slightly volatile finish." Wine Advocate (85 Points)
