A Bordeaux blend based on 53% merlot and 33% cabernet sauvignon. Bright red-ruby. Enticing aromas of redcurrant, licorice, iron, loam, tobacco and chocolate. Suave, round and nicely concentrated, with a restrained sweetness to the red fruit, herb and spice flavors. In a polite, very easy-to-drink style and not at all over the top. Finishes with a broad, spicy dusting of tannins and a suggestion of coffee liqueur

The 2009 Nita is a rare, value-priced Priorat that over-delivers in a big way. This unoaked cuvee, made by Meritxell Palleja from purchased fruit, is a blend of 45% Garnacha, 35% Carinena, with the balance Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah. It displays a fragrant bouquet of liquid minerality, lavender, incense, black cherry, and black raspberry. This leads to a concentrated, forward, savory offering with layers of ripe fruit, succulent flavors, good acidity, and excellent freshness. Although it has the stuffing to evolve for several years, it can be approached now. It is a great introduction to the DO of Priorat. Wine Advocate 92 Points
Glass-staining ruby. Raspberry, cherry-cola and spices on the highly fragrant nose. Sweet and supple in texture, with lush red and dark berry flavors, notes of white pepper and violet and no rough edges. Expands on the finish, which features juicy cherry and blackberry qualities. I find this awfully delicious right now but it has the depth to age. International Wine Cellar 91 Points

A ripe, succulent style, with a lively structure putting its macerated black cherry, iron and earth flavors in relief. The firm, dense tannins feel like Pommard. Fine length. Wine Spectator 90 Points

The 2009 Merlot growing season was marked by a warm end of summer which brought the fruit to a near-perfect level of ripeness by mid September. Cloverdale Ranch Merlot displays a broad range of characters from the ripe red fruit on the nose to the rich cocoa notes in the finish. There is a firm, tannic backbone that is tempered with a lush velvety textured mouthfeel. This is a wine with incredible diversity for food pairing but can certainly be enjoyed on it's own.

90 points from Wine & Spirits Magazine: This is a red to sink your teeth into, savory with meaty, beefy flavor. The fruit, dark and fresh, is more a carrier of other flavors licorice, spice, herbs than the main event, every aspect knit tightly together by firm tannin. A blend of 65 percent grenache, 10 percent syrah, 10 percent carignan and splashes of mourvedre, merlot, alicante and cabernet sauvignon from vineyards in Costières de Nîmes and nearby Châteauneuf-du-Pape (all 2009 fruit), it's mouthfilling and delicious, the vinous equivalent of a good aged steak.
78% Merlot, 9% Cabernet Franc, 6% Malbec, 5% Petit Verdot, 2% Cabernet Sauvignon.Powerful is a way to describe the 2009 PlumpJack Merlot. Primary aromas of baked plums, cardamom, mulling spices and blackberry are followed by aromas of chocolate, vanilla beans and coffee. On the palate flavors of berry cobbler, plums and cocoa are followed by flavors of herbes de Provence, cedar and cigar smoke. The 2009 shows more firmness than the 2008 and will be at its best with two hours of decanting. We like to describe this wine as the “vin de garde” of the last three vintages of Merlot.
