90 points from Wine & Spirits Magazine:
This is a red to sink your teeth into, savory with meaty, beefy flavor. The fruit, dark and fresh, is more a carrier of other flavors licorice, spice, herbs than the main event, every aspect knit tightly together by firm tannin. A blend of 65 percent grenache, 10 percent syrah, 10 percent carignan and splashes of mourvedre, merlot, alicante and cabernet sauvignon from vineyards in Costières de Nîmes and nearby Châteauneuf-du-Pape (all 2009 fruit), it's mouthfilling and delicious, the vinous equivalent of a good aged steak.

2009 Plumpjack - Merlot Napa Valley
2009 Plumpjack - Merlot Napa Valley $59.95 $49.95

Red | Merlot | United States | California | 750ml

78% Merlot, 9% Cabernet Franc, 6% Malbec, 5% Petit Verdot, 2% Cabernet Sauvignon.
Powerful is a way to describe the 2009 PlumpJack Merlot. Primary aromas of baked plums, cardamom, mulling spices and blackberry are followed by aromas of chocolate, vanilla beans and coffee. On the palate flavors of berry cobbler, plums and cocoa are followed by flavors of herbes de Provence, cedar and cigar smoke. The 2009 shows more firmness than the 2008 and will be at its best with two hours of decanting. We like to describe this wine as the “vin de garde” of the last three vintages of Merlot.

2009 Querciabella - Chianti Classico
2009 Querciabella - Chianti Classico $44.99

Red | Sangiovese | Italy | 750ml

The 2009 Chianti Classico Querciabella floats on the palate with layers of sensual red fruit, flowers and spices. It remains an essentially mid-weight wine graced with exquisite finesse and class, reflecting a stylistic change from some of the bigger vintages of the past. Floral notes reappear on the finish, adding lift and harmony. Anticipated maturity 2012-2019.

The 2009 Cabernet Sauvignon is a big, dramatic wine endowed with tremendous richness and power. A large-scaled, dramatic wine, the 2009 Cabernet sweeps across the palate with generous, deeply resonant fruit. This is shaping up to be another beauty from David Ramey.
