Red | Syrah | France | Rhone Valley | 750ml
"Dense, with a impressive tannic coating to the chestnut, tobacco, pastis, mulled currant and blackberry fruit flavors. There's a smoldering charcoal note on the finish, with the grip nicely integrated. You'd never guess this as a 2008. A terrific effort for the vintage. Best from 2012 through 2022." "Good bright ruby-red. Crushed blackberry, musky dark chocolate and flinty minerality on the nose. Dry and minerally, with urgent blackberry fruit lifted by a strong violet quality. Finishes broad, subtle and long, with dusty, toothcoating tannins, a saline nuance and lingering notes of blackberry and licorice. A very successful blend." Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar 92 Points"The 2008 Misterio is a blend of Bonarda, Malbec, and Petit Verdot aged in barrique for 12 months. It displays more complexity than the Blend cuvee in its bouquet of wood smoke, Asian spices, violets, plum, and blackberry. Medium-bodied on the palate, with a sense of elegance in the glass, this nicely proportioned effort has the structure to evolve for 1-2 years and will provide pleasure through 2020. Alma Negra is owned by Ernesto Catena and the wines are made by Gustavo Marin and Jose Reginato." Wine Advocate 91 Points

Wine Spectator #96 Top 100 Wines of 2013, 95 Points"Intense balsamic and mint notes make this red distinctive, along with currant, raspberry and floral touches. Silky, ripe and impressive, this shows elegance and a vibrant structure. Offers terrific length and resonance on the finish. Best from 2016 through 2032."One of the most sought after wines from Montalcino, Montosoli is consistently a blockbuster red. Its intense ruby red color tends towards elegant garnet with age. On the nose, it shows a complex personality with a delicious blend of black cherry, raspberry, violet, licorice, vanilla and black pepper. Extremely enticing, opulent and elegant on the palate, with a warm, long-lasting finish, Montosoli is a wine for special occasions.

An ultra fresh and very pinot nose is nuanced by hints of Gevrey-style earth and a hint of forest floor that also is reflected by the cool, detailed and pliant middle weight flavors that possess good depth but also a mildly edgy finish where it’s not entirely clear that it will round out.
Brightly redolent of fresh red currant and blackberry, accompanied by Lapsang tea, fennel, and maritime suggestions of brine and alkali, Rousseau’s 2008 Gevrey-Chambertin Les Cazetiers displays incipient creaminess, but at the same time, tartness on the palate, with an invigorating sense of fruit skin and fine-grained tannins that lead to a finish of impressive grip. Like the corresponding Lavaux St.-Jacques, this is refreshing but short on richness, and the superior smell in the empty glass confirms the degree to which it is presently a bit reduced. And here too, I can envision 8-10 years of interesting evolution.
Red | Cabernet Sauvignon | United States | California | 750ml
The nose shows lovely rosehip, black cherry and black currant, with deep wood and vanilla spice. The wine has flavors of bing cherry and black fruits with a delicacy and finesse that is appealing and reminiscent of the structure and elegance of a great Bordeaux. The full fruit finish, supple, weighty tannins and long finish add to the complexity of this wine.

Jean Orliac’s wines set the benchmark for all other winemakers in the Pic St. Loup A/C. One of the first to spot the potential of the area, he encapsulate the pleasure of Languedoc at its brimming best. Attractive pink color. Ripe, red summer fruits with a crisp finish.
White | Pinot Gris | New Zealand | Marlborough | 750ml
"The 2008 Old Schoolhouse Vineyard Pinot Gris has a pink-ish tinge, touches of grapefruit, honeysuckle and peony on the nose. The palate is well balanced, crisp and slightly phenolic with touches of pear, honeysuckle and dried apricot, leading to an off-dry finish." Wine Advocate (86 Points)

Light-weight, with a nice firm edge supporting the almond, melon and bitter notes. Drink now.
Red | Tempranillo | Spain | Rioja | 750ml
"The 2008 Reserva has dark cherry, cassis and graphite on the nose. The palate has a sappy nose with blackberry, raspberry and a touch of soy towards the finish. The tannins are ripe and quite “thick,” lending the 2008 admirable substance considering the vintage. Drink 2015-2030." Wine Advocate (91 Points)
Red | Prieto Picudo | Spain | Castilla y Leon | 750ml
"The 2008 Prieto Picudo (100%) was sourced from vines ranging in age from 60-80 years and was aged for 14 months in French oak. It exhibits a reticent nose of cedar, spice box, blueberry, and blackberry leading to a savory, smooth-textured, tasty wine with good balance and length. It has enough structure to evolve for 1-2 years so if the wine’s aromatics blossom, it will ultimately merit an outstanding rating." Wine Advocate (89 Points)

This is a rich and enticing red, with alluring aromas of warm cocoa and roasted vanilla bean giving way to lush plum sauce, cassis and raspberry ganache flavors. The long, smoldering finish is velvety and dripping with pure fruit, all of it backed by a suave tobacco note. Carmenere, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Petit Verdot. Best from 2011 through 2017. 4,538 cases made.
"There is lovely transparency and elegance to the fruit in an expression of Sangiovese that offers gorgeous roundness in a mid-weight, elegant style. The finish is long, soft and caressing. Even better, this is an outstanding value." Wine Advocate (90 Points)
Red | Sangiovese | Italy | Tuscany | 750ml
Dark youthful purple color. Nose of berries, cassis and brown spice - expresses crushingly rich, homemade, rustic yet supple characters. Flavors have nuance of ripe Cabernet grapes, cocoa, dark chocolate, vanilla and cassis. The abundant array of flavors is supported by fine grain "chocky" texture. This vintage exhibits a balance in abundant ripe tannins and serious fruit - grape skin extraction and French oak provides a tasting experience that begins delightful, broadens and expands on the palate - a brooding, supple, finely textured wine.Beautifully crafted, rich, intense and powerful, yet supple, graceful and polished, offering a generous core of spicy blackberry, black licorice, wild berry and light cedary notes. Full-bodied and expressive, this is both approachable now and sure to improve for several years. Drink now through 2020. 15,618 cases made. Wine Spectator 94 PointsThe 2008 Cabernet Sauvignon Special Selection is the first example of this cuvee to include Merlot (about 14%) in the blend. The Merlot component has given the wine a cocoa/chocolate nuance to its black currant, licorice-infused fruit. The tannins are velvety soft and the wine is beautifully textured and full-bodied. It is ideal for drinking now and over the next 15 years. Wine Advocate 94 Points

The 2008 possesses a deep ruby/purple color as well as complex aromatics of graphite, cedar, blackberries, black currants, and subtle background oak. Dense, with abundant fruit, soft, ripe tannin, and a long, heady finish, I am not sure it is as powerful, rich, or as potentially long-lived as the 2005, but it will be drinkable at a much earlier age, and should evolve for 15 or more years.
