90

Deep ruby-red in color, this wine is brimming with notes of dark, dried cherries, blackberries and hints of dates and mocha. Pairs well with full-flavored pasta and risotto dishes, roast poultry and chorizo. Also excellent with hard and semi-hard cheeses.

2008 Armand Rousseau - Chambertin Clos des Ruchottes $299.95 $249.94

Red | Burgundy | France | 750ml

2008 Armand Rousseau - Charmes-Chambertin $209.95 $169.94

Red | Pinot Noir | France | Burgundy | 750ml

An ultra fresh and very pinot nose is nuanced by hints of Gevrey-style earth and a hint of forest floor that also is reflected by the cool, detailed and pliant middle weight flavors that possess good depth but also a mildly edgy finish where it’s not entirely clear that it will round out.

2008 Armand Rousseau - Gevrey-Chambertin Clos St.-Jacques $349.95 $299.94

Red | Pinot Noir | France | Burgundy | 750ml

A discreet touch of wood frames an aromatically fresh, ultra elegant, spicy and bright nose of intense pure pinot fruit, cherry and raspberry notes where both the spice and earth notes continue onto the delicious, rich and full-bodied flavors built on a base of concentrated minerality and stunning length. This is one classy wine that offers impeccable balance and a Zen-like poise.

2008 Armand Rousseau - Gevrey-Chambertin Les Cazetiers Premier Cru $159.95 $139.94

Red | Pinot Noir | France | Burgundy | 750ml

Brightly redolent of fresh red currant and blackberry, accompanied by Lapsang tea, fennel, and maritime suggestions of brine and alkali, Rousseau’s 2008 Gevrey-Chambertin Les Cazetiers displays incipient creaminess, but at the same time, tartness on the palate, with an invigorating sense of fruit skin and fine-grained tannins that lead to a finish of impressive grip. Like the corresponding Lavaux St.-Jacques, this is refreshing but short on richness, and the superior smell in the empty glass confirms the degree to which it is presently a bit reduced. And here too, I can envision 8-10 years of interesting evolution.

2008 Armand Rousseau - Mazy-Chambertin $219.95 $179.94

Red | Burgundy | France | 750ml

The Rousseau 2008 Mazy–Chambertin impresses the nose with ripe cherry, licorice, and an array of pungent spices. The wine bursts onto the palate with juicy exuberance and tactile impingement of spices, and finishes with lip-smacking length, hints of cherry pit bitterness, peat, charred red meats, and crushed stone adding interest. Athletically lean and energetic, this might well gain richness of texture in bottle, and I wouldn’t hesitate to hold some for a dozen or more years.

2008 Atlas Peak - Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley $39.99 $23.95

Red | Cabernet Sauvignon | United States | California | 750ml

Made with full extraction and long skin contact, this wine is made to maximize body and weight while having long silky tannins. The 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon has aromas of ripe dark cherry and blackberry notes with mocha, clove and a hint of vanilla. This wine offers lush, juicy cherry and blueberry flavors. On the palate, sweet vanilla, clove, and a hint of cinnamon are brought forth by the nuances of French oak aging. Seamless with a nice long finish, this wine is very elegant with a fine structure. This will age well in your cellar for 5-10 years.
