"Dense, with a impressive tannic coating to the chestnut, tobacco, pastis, mulled currant and blackberry fruit flavors. There's a smoldering charcoal note on the finish, with the grip nicely integrated. You'd never guess this as a 2008. A terrific effort for the vintage. Best from 2012 through 2022." 2010 Alphonse Mellot - Sancerre Blanc Generation XIX $67.99 $49.95

White | Sauvignon Blanc | France | Loire Valley | 750ml

A high-flying white Sancerre. Family Mellot has long been recognized for the quality of its white Sancerre but also contributes to the success of any name. Known for the latter wine, Domaine La Moussi?re wanted to acclaim at Sauvignon Blanc, here is a beautiful illustration: Notes of beeswax, gingerbread, lemon menthol and toasted hazelnut and a wonderfully dynamic mouth, thirst-quenching . This wine is powerful and fine, caught in the duality wealth / firmness. The appearance is Pale gold yellow in colour with light green sheen - brilliant, lively and clear - a mature appearance. Mature and fresh nose. Finely expressed lemon scented honeydew, with hints of menthol, acacia then dried fruits, St George's mushrooms from meadows and iodised mineral. When opened hints of beeswax, gingerbread and menthol lemon appear. Full, fresh, rich and virile taste. An honest effect covered with mellowness well combined with acidity and halfway through it is joined by toasted nuts. The rich finish explodes in a hint of freshness accentuating the iodised mineral, Muscat and boxtree. Slight plant bitterness is mixed with long lasting quality. When older, it should change into terpenic aromas, white truffles on honeyed hazelnut background. A powerful fine wine, with dual complex / solidity and change / freshness.

Flowers flit around, trees bend down to give their most beautiful fruits to us and the air we breathe is so sweet in this garden full of sweetness that it is intoxicating. Lively, supple and welcoming taste. Predominantly honest in a welcoming balance, it reflects a pretty grape, a fine harvest in the singing and laughter of the men and women pickers. 2002 Andre Clouet - Brut Millesime Vintage Champagne
2002 Andre Clouet - Brut Millesime Vintage Champagne $89.95 $69.95

Sparkling | Champagne | France | Champagne | 750ml

"The 2002 Brut Millesime shows the exuberance and weight for which Bouzy is so well-known. Red berries, flowers and minerals are some of the nuances that are woven together in a rich, expansive fabric of notable class. This really needs some time in the glass to shine, but when the wine opens up it is absolutely glorious. A round, creamy finish has the last word. The 2002 is a bit more forward than most wines in this vintage which makes it approachable now, although I am not sure it is destined to make old bones." Wine Advocate (90 Points)

1911 Andre Clouet - Grand Cru Cuvee 1911
1911 Andre Clouet - Grand Cru Cuvee 1911 $129.95 $99.95

A robust and exotic Champagne uniquely blended from one vintage and a solera blend from a mix of vintages dating a few years further.

"The NV Grand Cru Cuvee 1911 emerges from the glass with the most haunting of perfumes. Sweet rose petal and jasmine are some of the nuances that emerge over time. Despite recent disgorgement, the purity of the fruit and the extraordinary elegance of the mousse are hard to miss. This is an exceptional, elegant version of the 1911 that should drink beautifully for years to come. The bottle I tasted needed quite a bit of air to open up, so readers should be patient with the wine at this stage." Wine Advocate (93+ Points)

NV Andre Clouet - Silver Brut Champagne $59.95 $49.95

"The NV Brut Nature Silver is naturally a very focused, driven wine given the no-dosage style. This shows wonderful nuance and depth all the way through to the long finish, with bright aromas and flavors but less of the toastiness than some of the house's other wines. The mousse and finish are both utterly impeccable in their elegance." Wine Advocate (91 Points)

2009 Armand Rousseau - Chambertin Clos des Ruchottes Grand Cru $499.97 $374.97

Red | Burgundy | France | 750ml

 BH  93

Ripe and very floral aromas display pure red pinot fruit that is cut with minerality and crushed herbs that introduce earthy and stony middle weight flavors that possess a taut muscularity and excellent power on the beautifully well-balanced and lingering finish. This is a very fresh wine of harmony that should age for decades if well-stored and while it's not quite at the same level as the brilliant 2005 version, it's close. Drink 2024+

2008 Armand Rousseau - Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru
2008 Armand Rousseau - Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru $283.99

Red | Pinot Noir | France | Burgundy | 750ml

An ultra fresh and very pinot nose is nuanced by hints of Gevrey-style earth and a hint of forest floor that also is reflected by the cool, detailed and pliant middle weight flavors that possess good depth but also a mildly edgy finish where it’s not entirely clear that it will round out.

2009 Armand Rousseau - Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru
2009 Armand Rousseau - Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru $299.97 $249.97

Red | Pinot Noir | France | Burgundy | 750ml

 BH  89-92

The 2009 Charmes-Chambertin emerges from the glass with lovely radiance and openness in its ripe, juicy fruit. The Charmes is already rather forward, and at this stage appears to be a relatively early-maturing wine. The oak is also a bit pronounced. Sweet, textured floral notes wrap around the long, polished finish. Rousseau’s Charmes is technically 60% Mazoyeres. Anticipated maturity: 2015-2029.

2009 Armand Rousseau - Gevrey Chambertin AC
2009 Armand Rousseau - Gevrey Chambertin AC $199.97 $129.97

The 2009 Gevrey-Chambertin is pure silk on the palate. Layers of flavor emerge gracefully from this weightless, totally refined wine. A model of understated elegance, the Gevrey makes a great introduction to the wines of Eric Rousseau.

2007 Armand Rousseau - Gevrey-Chambertin Clos St.-Jacques 1er Cru
2007 Armand Rousseau - Gevrey-Chambertin Clos St.-Jacques 1er Cru $539.99 $399.95

Red | Pinot Noir | France | Burgundy | 750ml

93

Smooth, with concentration that makes this almost chewy framing the cherry, licorice and sandalwood notes. There's also a latent mineral tone. Though well-proportioned and harmonious, this needs a year or so to really sing. Best from 2012 through 2028. 50 cases imported.

2009 Armand Rousseau - Gevrey-Chambertin Lavaux St.-Jacques 1er Cru
2009 Armand Rousseau - Gevrey-Chambertin Lavaux St.-Jacques 1er Cru $299.97 $199.97

Red | Pinot Noir | France | Burgundy | 750ml

An ultra fresh and exceptionally elegant and airy nose features cool red berry and stone aromas that lead to equally mineral-inflected and beautifully well-detailed flavors that possess outstanding intensity and excellent persistence. I very much like the balance and this is a classic Lavaut.

2008 Armand Rousseau - Gevrey-Chambertin Les Cazetiers 1er Cru
2008 Armand Rousseau - Gevrey-Chambertin Les Cazetiers 1er Cru $215.99 $159.95

Red | Pinot Noir | France | Burgundy | 750ml

Brightly redolent of fresh red currant and blackberry, accompanied by Lapsang tea, fennel, and maritime suggestions of brine and alkali, Rousseau’s 2008 Gevrey-Chambertin Les Cazetiers displays incipient creaminess, but at the same time, tartness on the palate, with an invigorating sense of fruit skin and fine-grained tannins that lead to a finish of impressive grip. Like the corresponding Lavaux St.-Jacques, this is refreshing but short on richness, and the superior smell in the empty glass confirms the degree to which it is presently a bit reduced. And here too, I can envision 8-10 years of interesting evolution.

2009 Armand Rousseau - Gevrey-Chambertin Les Cazetiers 1er Cru
2009 Armand Rousseau - Gevrey-Chambertin Les Cazetiers 1er Cru $539.99 $399.97

Red | Pinot Noir | France | Burgundy | 750ml

 BH  90-93
The 2009 Gevrey-Chambertin Les Cazetiers presents an attractive core of dark fruit, considerable aromatic complexity and plenty of structure to back things up. Fresh, vibrant notes are woven throughout, adding to an impression of reserved, tense coolness. The Cazetiers is one of the more inward wines at Rousseau in 2009.
