2009 Chateau Du Gazin - Canon-Fronsac $24.99 $17.95

Red | Bordeaux Blend | France | Bordeaux | 750ml

70% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Cabernet Franc. This wine showcases its black fruit and black berry flavors accented with vanilla and then gravel and dust reverberating the palate. This much-talked-about 2009 vintage really showcases it its beauty and depth in this gem.

2009 Chateau Du Retout - Haut Medoc $29.95 $21.95

Red | Bordeaux Blend | France | Bordeaux | 750ml

Currant and blueberry on the nose. Medium-bodied, with pretty fruit and a light coffee bean and berry aftertaste. Pleasant structure.

2006 Château Fombrauge - St.-Emilion $59.99 $24.95

Red | Bordeaux Blend | France | Bordeaux | 750ml

93

The appellation's largest vineyard, Fombrauge is run with great precision and passion by Bordeaux entrepreneur, Bernard Magrez (whose flagship estate is Pape-Clement). The 2006 Fombrauge reveals pure notes of raspberries, cherries, flowers, pain grille, and crushed rocks. Medium-bodied, spicy, pure, and elegant, it should drink well young, and last for 10-12 years. Blend of 77% Merlot, 14% Cabernet Franc, and 9% Cabernet Sauvignon.

2009 Chateau Haut Piquat - Saint Emillion Bordeaux $19.99 $12.95

Red | Bordeaux Blend | France | Bordeaux | 750ml

75% Merlot, 15% Cabernet Sauvignon, and the balance in Cabernet Franc. The wine is a delightful blend of modern and traditional styles with a bouquet of ripe red fruits on the nose with a smooth, earthy and silky mid-palate with ample structure and a lengthy finish. It is an elegant and sophisticated wine, reasonably priced, that does not need a special event to be enjoyed.

2009 Chateau Hermitage Mazeyres - Pomerol $29.99 $21.95

Red | Bordeaux Blend | France | Pomerol | 750ml

Quite firm and reticent now, this is a cellar selection. Either put it away for a few years to allow the wine to mellow, or decant it several hours before consuming to let it gasp for air. The wine will reward you with cherry and plum fruit and nice complexity, with some earthy notes underpinning its silky tannins; 100 percent merlot.

2005 Château Montrose - St.-Estèphe $199.95 $139.97

Red | Bordeaux Blend | France | Bordeaux | 750ml

One of the superstars of the vintage, this classic Montrose is not as showy or opulent as the 2010, 2009 or 2003, but it offers a dense purple color followed by gorgeously sweet black raspberry and black currant fruit intermixed with loamy, earthy, forest floor notes, a floral component and a long, full-bodied finish. The 2008 was fashioned from yields of 44 hectoliters per hectare which is slightly less than the 2010's 45 hectoliters per hectare. Forget it for 5-8 years and drink it over the following 20+.

2009 Chateau Moulin Delille - Saint-Estephe $24.99 $17.95

Red | Bordeaux Blend | France | Saint-Estephe | 750ml

Quite stylish, it has cocoa, pomegranate and currant flavors, and silky texture that fleshes out nicely a few hours after opening. This is a "left-bank" wine, primarily Cabernet Sauvignon (with 25 percent Merlot).
