Auspicion Chardonnay shows great fruit character, finesse, and fullness in the palate. Flavors of ripe pineapple, golden apple, and Anjou pear are balanced by citrus notes and a smooth, creamy finish. A crisp, light-bodied wine meant to be enjoyed on its own or with lighter fare. Chardonnay grapes are sourced from select vineyards in northern California’s cool climate regions. They were hand-harvested throughout the night and vinified in stainless steel. The wine underwent partial malolactic fermentation before bottling. A small percentage of other white grape varieties are added to the final blend to add richness.

Jean Orliac’s wines set the benchmark for all other winemakers in the Pic St. Loup A/C. One of the first to spot the potential of the area, he encapsulate the pleasure of Languedoc at its brimming best. Attractive pink color. Ripe, red summer fruits with a crisp finish.

Typical aromas, with fruit and floral notes. A very perfumed, silky and elegant wine. To be drunk preferably in its youth for its freshness. Will deliciously accompany freshwater fish, shellfish of all kinds, pâtés and terrines.
"A similar if more complex nose also offers up notes of straw, melon and citrus where the latter continues onto the rich, generous and rather fleshy medium-bodied flavors that possess good dry extract levels and fine finishing intensity. This will be approachable young." Burghound (88)

With the goal of expressing a comprehensive expression of the appellation, we selected five unique vineyard sites to create this Sta. Rita Hills bottling. This blend is comprised of Mount Carmel, 3-D, Gnesa, Sea Smoke and Zotovich. While each lot is handled separately and in a completely uniform fashion in the winery, each contributes vastly different expressions which ultimately harmonize in the finished wine.
"The 2010 Chardonnay is gorgeous. Juicy apricots, pears, flowers and a hint of spices are woven together in this beautifully layered Chardonnay. Brewer-Clifton’s 2010 Chardonnay is a great wine for the money and an equally fabulous introduction to the house style. The fruit sources are Mt. Carmel, Sweeney Canyon, 3-D, Gnesa and a touch of Zotovich." Wine Advocate (91 Points)

This 2011 Central Coast Chardonnay has a lot of personality; a rich bouquet of peach pie and kumquats, a full mouthful of flavor with ripe stone fruit, bright Bartlett pear and crème fraîche. The texture is soft, round, smooth and succulent with hints of sweet oak, and a nice, long, beckoning finish.
Wine Advocate 90 Points: Calera's 2011 Chardonnay Central Coast is super-impressive, especially for the money. A textured, inviting wine, the 2011 boasts gorgeous depth and tons of finesse. Deeply expressive varietal notes wrap around the creamy finish.
