Highest Rated 2012 Oregon Pinot Noir Under $25 Highly Recommended Classic Vintage

2012 Oregon Pinot Noir have started to roll in and if you miss out you will be disappointed. This is a knockout vintage that will go down as a Classic. And we have the Highest Rated 2012 Oregon Pinot Noir Under $25 in the newly released issue of Wine Spectator. Wine Spectator also gave it 91 Points making it Highly Recommended and a Top Value. We present to you Haden Fig Pinot Noir 2012.

This is a project by Erin Nuccio the current owner of Evesham Wood and a former DC area resident who grew up in Arlington, VA. Erin worked in the Wine/ Restaurant Industry in DC before moving onto a new career path. Haden Fig was started at Evesham Wood where Erin started his apprenticeship so he could produce his wine there. Of course his apprenticeship ended up with him buying out the retiring owners and taking over the Evesham Wood franchise. His busy schedule has not stopped him from producing great wines under Haden Fig as they only have gotten better every year since the first vintage in 2008.

Wine Spectator gave the 2012 a huge score of 91 points and marked it as Highly Recommended and a Top Value:
Has presence and depth, with a sharp, tangy edge to the blackberry and black cherry flavors, picking up steely and minerally notes as the finish lingers.

Only 900 Cases were produced and it is pretty much sold out across the country as only you find a few stores still having this available. Of course we purchased everything we could get. This is Highly Recommended and a bargain at our price $24.98.

As an added bonus for the first 10 customers that purchases 3 bottles or more will get a signed bottle by Owner/ Winemaker Erin Nuccio as one of there bottles. Free Shipping on All Orders of 6 Bottles or more.

Don't Miss out on another spectacular tasting this Friday Night March 21 5:30-8pm as we have Todd Stewart from the 2013 Winery of the Year by Wine & Spirits Magazine: Elk Cove Vineyards. We will have a terrific lineup of wines straight from Oregon for you.

Haden Fig
Haden Fig is the realization of a dream to produce exceptional Pinot noir from the Willamette valley. The winery secures the best fruit possible from organic, biodynamic, and sustainably farmed vineyards. Everything possible is done to preserve and highlight what was created in the vineyard because if you start with great fruit, you end with amazing wine.

Erin Nuccio's passion for wine grew from his passion for food. While awaiting the start of culinary school he was lucky enough to land a job at a wine store in the Washington DC area. By tasting and working with extremely knowledgeable and generous wine professionals his interest turned into a passion. He threw himself into the business, eventually becoming manager and buyer for a wine shop and adjacent restaurant and wine bar. After unexpectedly falling in love, he then moved to the Northeast and explored the distribution side of the wine business while his girlfriend turned wife became a veterinarian. After graduation from veterinary school the world seemed limitless to the happily married couple and for some reason, the pin was stuck into Berkeley, California. Boxes were packed and the 2 dogs, 2 rabbits, and cat were loaded into the car destined for the west coast.

Berkeley wasn't the right fit, but it allowed Jordan to explore the holistic side of veterinary medicine, while Erin studied winemaking and viticulture in Napa and Sonoma. This was an irreplaceable experience for him and although he was not always in agreement with his fellow classmates or professors, the education and experience was priceless. During this time Erin realized that to fulfill his dream of making the most interesting, balanced, and complex wine possible in the US, he needed to move to the Willamette Valley. So the boxes were packed again and the menagerie loaded into the car.

Soon after the move Erin met Russ and Mary Raney of Evesham Wood Winery and his suspicions about the potential for exceptional Pinot Noir were confirmed. Erin had been lucky to work with the Raney’s at Evesham Wood and they have been extremely generous to allow Haden Fig to be made there. In July 2010, Russ and Mary Raney sold Evesham Wood to Erin and Jordan.

The name Haden Fig is named for the Nuccio's son Haden. As for the 'fig' component, it was a subconscious homage to Mark Twain and his Huck Finn. During her work at the Portland Audubon Society as a volunteer veterinarian, Jordan was enamored with the Northern Saw-Whet owl. This owl is a natural predator for vineyard pests and an essential part of a healthy symbiotic vineyard and ecosystem. Because of this, the Haden Fig winery chose the Saw-Whet owl for their label as a symbol of the commitment to sustainable agriculture. The Saw-Whet pictured on the label was created by Eli Halpin for Haden Fig.

Sourced from Cancilla Vineyard, Bjornson Vineyard and Johan Vineyard all lots started fermentation spontaneously with theyeast from the vineyard. Played with a bit of whole cluster fermentation, which makes up about 10% of the WV blend. Deep, dark color, black cherry and creamy blackberry, firm with chewy tannins. Showing great now with at least 3 years before reaching its peak.
