Bodegas Olarra is located on the outskirts of Logroño, right in the heart of the Denominación de Origen Calificada Rioja and within the prestigious Rioja Alta District.

Since it was fo unded in 1973, Olarra has been characterized by the beautyvand complexity of its facilities, known as the Cathedral of Rioja, with its unique 'Y' shaped ground plan, as well as its 111 hexagonal "egg box" domes.

This bodega has been able to combine the most modern winemaking techniques with the traditional vinification and ageing processes of Rioja, creating wines which have been conceived according to strict quality standards.

In Olarra we believe that it is by taking perfect care of the grapes that a fine wine is made, so we supervise every detail to the maximum. In making its wines, Bodegas Olarra only uses those berries which meet a set of strict conditions. Currently, Olarra offers several labels to the market and behind each of these is a wine with its own identity. Its star wines are the red oak-aged wines.

Principally Tempranillo with a little Garnacha, Mazuelo, and Graciano. Medium-Full bodied with plush and lively fruit wraps around still-perceptible tannins and fresh acidity, nuances of vanilla and sweet spice adding complexity. Cherry red with ruby highlights. Great structure, complex, fine aromas. Round and well balanced on the palate, as a result of its long period in the bottle.

The 2006 Cerro Anon Reserva is a blend of 80% Tempranillo, 5% Garnacha and 15% Mazuelo and Mazuelo that is aged for 20 months in American oak. Noticeably deep in color, the nose is very pure with notes of blackberry, violet, leather and a hint of lavender emerging with time. The palate is medium-bodied with a citrus-fresh entry. It is very well-balanced with supple tannins and subtle leather and tobacco notes infusing the dark plum and summer berry fruit. This is a very well-crafted wine that stays true to exactly what Rioja ought to be. Excellent. Drink now-2018.
