Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, Avize and Oger are villages where Chardonnay lights up the landscape. This delicate variety, confronted in the Côte des Blancs with a striking terroir, finds here the perfect combination to preserve its freshness intact over time.
Champagne Delamotte expresses to perfection the characteristics of this noble variety. Light, gossamer-textured, impertinent, more complex with ageing, discrete yet present, heady but not heavy. Champagne at any time, for any occasion.
Blended from 50% Chardonnay, 30% Pinot Noir and 20% Pinot Meunier, this is marked by its power devoid of any aggressiveness, its pleasant freshness, its fullness and clean, fruity finish. This brut champagne is truly delightful, balanced and elegant. A lovely light gold colour, with great purity on the nose, along with notes of citrus, white flowers, lemon peel and moss
"Light yellow. Spicy lemon and lime aromas are complicated by ginger and talc, with a suave floral quality gaining strength in the glass. Fresh and energetic, offering racy citrus and pear flavors that are strikingly pure and mineral-driven." Stephen Tanzer 91 Points
The NV Brut reveals attractive notes of smokiness, minerals, white peaches and flowers on a medium-bodied frame. This finessed Chardonnay offers excellent length, with lingering notes of minerality that frame the finish. This is Lot # L8117607, disgorged June, 2007. Note: I also tasted Lot # L8128307, disgorged October, 2007, which was quite similar, although it was perhaps a touch shorter on the palate. Anticipated maturity: 2008-2010.
