Red | Malbec | Argentina | 750ml
Wine Spectator #10 of Top 100 of 2012Wine Spectator 95 PointsDark and powerful, yet elegant, with a delicious core of crushed raspberry, blackberry and damson plum notes tightly woven with silky tannins. The minerally finish lingers on with layered flavors of wildflowers, melted licorice and spice box.
Red | Malbec | Argentina | Mendoza | 750ml
Opaque black in color, with flashes of violet, and an ethereal, highly complex nose, with notes of red and black fruits, spices, smoke, forest groves, and sweet, fresh wood. The palate has excellent breadth and depth of juicy fruit. The acidity is fresh and the tannins are firm but fine-textured, supporting the berry flavors well on the long, elegant finish.
Catena Zapata Nicasia Malbec is made from a meticulous vine selection in the best lots of the Catena family’s estate vineyards. These Zapata vines are carefully hand tended and produce extremely low yields. The grapes are micro-fermented in new French oak barriques and the wine is then aged for 18 months in new French oak. This wine is made in very limited quantities.
"The single vineyard Malbecs begin with the 2007 Nicasia Vineyard Malbec. It was barrel-fermented and aged for 18 months in 100% new oak including a racking into a second set of new barrels (the so-called “200% new oak” treatment). A glass-coating opaque purple/black in color, it offers up a splendid nose of toasty new oak, earth notes, exotic spices, black cherry and black raspberry. This is followed by a plush, layered, intensely flavored wine with potential complexity, precision balance, and a seamless finish." Wine Advocate (95 Points)
Red | Malbec,Bonarda | Argentina | Mendoza | 750ml
The Gambler is a broad, brawny, and powerful red wine with flavor and texture for days. Ripe Malbec is counterbalanced with a touch of Bonarda to create a forceful and full mouthfeel of blue and black fruits, leather and spice.
It's a pretty tough combination to beat here at Cuvelir, some fine Argentine terroir coupled with Bordeaux knowhow. As you are probably aware, this is owned by Bertrand and Jean-Guy Cuvelier who also have an intresty in another property called Leoville Poyferre. This is an extention of their Coleccion line which is their value play, though it appears they just expanded this line to include varietal bottlings. (formerly thre was just a blend). Lovely, sleek plum and black cherry fruit, brown spices and a touch of soil. Even this ‘little’ wine has polish and breeding and can deliver ow or hold in the cellar for up to a decade. Very Bordeaux-like in weight and texture, but sexier somehow.Wine Advocate

Red | Malbec, Syrah | Argentina | Mendoza | 750ml
Blend: 80% Malbec and 20% Syrah2010 Perlita is a blend of a charming wine made by Silvio Alberto with the help of consulting enologist Michel Rolland. Perhaps it takes a producer obsessed with luxury items to make a Malbec this luxurious and yet affordable. It even looks classy, potentially getting the Mister Wright best label award. Diamandes Perlita Malbec-Syrah is a "must have" and a "to do." The characteristics of the Argentinean Malbec combined with the smoothness of the Syrah produce a very pleasant, full bodied, rich wine. The palate develops ripe fruit and soft but intense tannins. Silky and smooth with a pleasant finish.
A midseason ripener, it can bring very deep color, ample tannin, and a particular plum-like flavor component to add complexity to claret blends.
Red | Malbec | Spain | Galicia | 750ml
Marked intense red colour. Aromas of morello cherries and spices. Balanced tannins are perceived in the mouth as a result of 3-month ageing in French oak casks. Velvety, well structured, refined and up-to-date.
