Iconic Sassicaia 2010 The Grand Cru of Tuscany Instant Classic

Brand new 2010 vintage of Sassicaia has been released and will be arriving at Pearson’s on Tuesday!

Excitement for the 2010 harvest has been building, and as a single group the wines are indeed exceptional but none are bigger than the Legendary Sassicaia.

This scored double 96 points from Wine Advocate and Antonio Galloni. This is the third highest score ever from Wine Advocate.
Pretty Amaz
ing!

Wine Advocate included: “The buzz is back. Italy’s most iconic wine estate -- the ground zero for all fine wine made in the country today -- has entered an exciting new chapter with a renewed sense of purpose. This change was not sparked by any single event, rather a confluence of events starting with a fortuitous string of great vintages.”

2010 is shaping up to become another classic vintage and this wine is simply irresistible.

James Suckling who scored it 94 points stated it is "Hard not to drink right now." and he is right. But this will one that will last for the next three decades like the other great wines from Sassicaia.

We have a Great Offer for you at $179.98 with Free Shipping on 3 bottles or more. Offers End September 30, 2013. I would not wait on picking up this instant classic.

Tenuta San Guido
The Tenuta San Guido is a 7,500-acre estate located in the province of Livorno on the western coastal outskirts of Tuscany near the village of Bolgheri. Marchese Mario Incisa della Rocchetta acquired it through his marriage to Clarice della Gherardesca in 1940.

The legacy of Sassicaia began in 1944, when Mario Incisa acquired a number of Cabernet Sauvignon and Franc vine cuttings and planted them on a sloping hillside of the San Guido estate, called Castiglioncello after the 11th-century castle at the vineyard's upper edge. This tiny, 3.75-acre vineyard stood alone until 1965, when a second Cabernet vineyard was planted with cuttings from the Castiglioncello parcel; the gravelly, 30-acre plot would give the wine its name: Sassicaia, "the place of many stones".

With the radical changes in the D.O.C. system of regulations as of the 1994 vintage, Sassicaia's extraordinary reputation was acknowledged through the Italian government's granting the wine its own appellation.

Sassicaia is today considered to be the new plus ultra of Italy's great red wines for its consistent excellence and its intuitive spirit. Acclaimed by the wine world's most respected voices, Sassicaia remains the legacy of its creator, Marchese Mario Incisa della Rocchetta, and his son, Marchese Nicolò Incisa della Rocchetta.

Tenuta San Guido Sassicaia 2010
Wine Advocate 96 Points
The 2010 Sassicaia Bolgheri Sassicaia brings back some of the brambly rosemary and wild Mediterranean brush that was missing in 2009. This will greatly appeal to enthusiasts of Sassicaia’s trademark elegance. The wine shows extreme purity that brings its many beautiful aromas into startling focus and clarity. Lingering tones of black fruit and Oriental spice add subtle shades at the back. The wine mostly certainly shows its pedigree in the exciting and beautifully balance manner it evolves in the glass: It tells a new story each time you return to observe the bouquet. This is the harbinger of cellar longevity. Anticipated maturity: 2018-2040.

Antonio Galloni 96 Points: The 2010 Sassicaia is intensely saline, savory and energetic. Rosemary, sage, plums and black cherry notes meld into graphite, crushed rocks and a host of other more mineral-inflected nuances. Beautifully persistent and chiseled in the glass, the 2010 is ultimately all about energy. This is going to be a fascinating vintage to follow.

James Suckling 94 Points: The 2010 Sassicaia was just released and it's an outstanding bottle. I think that people are going to love this newest Sass. The red is very aromatic with currant, dried berry, cocoa bean, and hints of wood. It's full-bodied, with intense yet very polished tannins and a long finish. It's very refined and beautiful with a tangy finish. The Cabernet Franc comes through here at the finish. Lively. Hard not to drink now.

Wine Spectator 94 Points: Cedar, sandalwood and spice notes lead off, with cherry, currant and rhubarb flavors underneath. Linear in profile, with a firm base of fine-grained tannins, this lingers beautifully on the finish. Persistent from beginning to end, this just needs time to expand.
