Hewitt Cabernet 2010 Wine Spectator #4 Wine of the Year

Don't miss your opportunity for the Cabernet of the Year. Hewitt

Cabernet Sauvignon Rutherford 2010 was Highest Ranked Cabernet and the #4 on Wine Spectator's Top Wines of the Year. The grapes are from a historic site located at the base of the Mayacamas Mountains in Rutherford. One of Napa's prized Cabernet growing districts. The site that is now Hewitt Vineyard was first planted in 1880, when Dennis Hanrahan bought the parcel bordering Gustave Niebaum’s Inglenook (now Rubicon Estate).

Wine Spectator 95 Points

#4 on Top 100 Wines of 2013 Deliciously pure, rich and deep, featuring tiers of spicy red berry, blackberry and red and black licorice flavors, with pretty wilted rose scentsand a long seamless finish that slowly reveals an underlying tannic grip. Drink now through 2026.

Don't miss out on this special opportunity. We have a sale price of $99.98. While we were able to receive the largest allocation in the market by no means is it going to be enough as this will sell out very quickly.

Hewitt Vineyard
The spot that was to become Hewitt Vineyard first came under vine in 1880, when Dennis Hanrahan planted the parcel bordering Gustave Niebaum’s Inglenook (now Rubicon Estate). In 1900 the region welcomed another winemaking pioneer when French emigrant Georges de Latour purchased land adjacent to Hanrahan and Niebaum and planted the first vines for Beaulieu Vineyard. The Hanrahan Ranch later passed to Hanrahan’s daughter Julie and her husband, Joseph Gagetta, who made wine prior to Prohibition. During Prohibition, the Gagettas kept the vineyard viable by shipping grapes to home winemakers in the east. William A. Hewitt, head of Deere & Company (John Deere) from 1955 to 1982, bought the vineyard in 1962. He enlisted the assistance of Beaulieu’s famed winemaker André Tchelistcheff in replanting the site to Cabernet Sauvignon. For a number of years, grapes from Hewitt Vineyard were an important component in many great wines from Rutherford. The inaugural 2001 Hewitt Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon was the first single-vineyard wine produced from this historic spot.

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate 92 Points
The less expensive 2010 Cabernet Sauvignon Rutherford is also of extremely high quality. Copious aromas of black currants, black raspberries, spring flowers and a touch of earth emerge from this stunningly rich, full-bodied, impressive Cabernet. Consume it over the next 15+ years.

Caledonia Spirits Tasting Tomorrow with Owner Todd Hardie

Caledonia Spirits was established by Todd Hardie with one simple goal: to make spirits out of the best ingredients he can find. Years as a beekeeper and naturalist give Todd a deep respect for our regional agriculture and ecology, and drive him to bring people the best both have to offer. Todd works with a network of regional farmers to showcase the beauty of their grains, fruits, and bee hive products in spirit form.

And Tomorrow (Satuday 1/25/14) we will have Todd Hardie with us to showcase his Caledonia Spirits. Tasting will be from 2-5pm. We will be showing Barr Hill Vodka, Barr Hill Gin, and Caledonia Elderberry Cordial. We hope you can join us.

Caledonia Spirits - Barr Hill Gin (750ml)

Barr Hill Gin is a London dry-style gin that, unlike other gins, uses only one botanical during distillation – juniper. The rest of its complex, gentle flavor profile comes from the raw honey which is added during a second distillation. Barr Hill Gin earned the Double Gold Medal at the 2012 New York International Spirits Competition.

Caledonia Spirits - Barr Hill Vodka (750ml)

The relationship with the land and honey bees inspired and gave birth to this vodka. The soul of a beekeeper is filled with the rhythms that flow through the seasons, reflecting the changes in the flowers, rains, sun and all the forces that are a part of this beautiful mystery. Barr Hill Vodka is crafted from honey at our micro-distillery on the banks of the Lamoille River in Caledonia Country of the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont. Honey is cold fermented for several weeks then carefully distilled in our custom stills. The spirit which emerges reflects the essence of the soil and flowers visited by the bees.
