Presale: 94pt 2011 Dominus $134.98 Free Shipping on 3 Bottles or more

We have a presale alert from one of the icons of Napa. We are offering you the 2011 Dominus Estate at our special presale price of $134.98 with Free Shipping on all orders of 3 bottles or more. This is the best price you will find for this wine right now.

Antonio Galloni of Vinous gave it 94 points:
"Savory herbs, menthol, smoke and licorice are some of the aromas that open up in the glass in the 2011 Dominus. This is a relatively immediate, expressive Dominus with plenty of near-term appeal. The style is open and succulent for the year, with lovely balance and poise. Crushed rose petals and dried herbs linger in the close. With time in the glass, the 2011 fleshes out nicely. In 2011 Dominus is 86% Cabernet Sauvignon, 9% Petit Verdot and 5% Cabernet Franc."

This is a presale and limited time offering set to be arrive in our stores on April 25.

As an added bonus everyone that places a presale order for Dominus 2011 will be on the priority list for an offering on the 2012 Dominus which will be released late April 2015. The 2012 is another blockbuster as Wine Advocate already gave it 98-100 points stating it “Flirts with Perfection”. Just like the 2010 this wine will be in high demand and short supply everywhere when it is released. We cannot guarantee that everyone will receive an offering from us but we will try our best to meet the demand.

Dominus Estate

Dominus Estate is the Napa Valley property of Bordeaux producer Christian Moueix. With a long history of winemaking in Libourne, France, Christian Moueix studied at University of California, Davis and was attracted by the  opportunity to make a wine that was distinctly Napa terroir with the spirit and style of a great Bordeaux.

The source for the wines is the historical Napanook Vineyard, one of the oldest vineyards in the Napa Valley that has been in production since the late 19th century. Located at the heart of the Napa Valley, the vineyard benefits from warm days but is kept cool by the breezes that pass over the Mayacamas Mountains.

Christian Moueix fell in love with the valley and its wines while studying at U.C. Davis in 1968 and 1969. After many years of searching the ideal vineyard location, in 1982 he entered into a joint venture with Robin Lail and Marcia Smith, John Daniel's two daughters.

This was the birth of Dominus, and its first vintage was harvested in 1983. Since then, Christian Moueix has worked to restore the unique character of the original vineyard. He became full owner in 1995.

Dominus Estate is produced in the heart of Napa Valley by Christian Moueix and his team. Since 1983, our the has been to express the unique terroir found at the historic Napanook Vineyard.

Dominus has become known since its first release for its complexity and earthy character, which pay tribute to the Napanook terroir. Christian Moueix truly believes that producing a wine begins in the vineyard. For that reason, each vintage is unique with different varietal blends reflecting the vineyard and climate conditions of that particular year.

In the early years of Dominus (1983-1990), recognizing that the wine was in its infancy and did not yet have its own identity, a series of artists' portraits of Christian Moueix was commissioned for the labels. By 1991, the wine had become well established and a classic Bordeaux-style label replaced the artist series. Christian is also the owner of the World Famous Petrus in Bordeaux.
