New Ownership, New Changes Coming

NEW OWNERSHIP AT PEARSON'S WINE & SPIRITS

After 4 years of excellent service to our long-time customers, Phil Kang and family decided to move on from wine retail and focus on their real estate projects throughout Washington, DC and Maryland. They wish everyone the best and are confident with the new change in ownership that there will be a superior selection of wines and spirits available as well as excellent customer service. After a few weeks of conducting inventory and transitioning, I am pleased to announce that I will continue to write our weekly newsletters and source exceptional wines and spirits for you! Also, Erick Urbina, assistant store manager for 16 years, will remain with the Pearson's team and help me on the hunt for smart wines at ridiculous prices!

The new owner, Sergey Nikolaev, is very experienced in the retail industry. His family operates several liquor stores, gas stations, and other retail establishments in the DMV area. They are very committed to maintaining and improving the customer service of Pearson's Wine & Spirits and are pleased to offer a sale of discounted wines, many of which are 25% off, while supplies last! They have also invested in large liquor deals with the suppliers for the store to bring the customer prices down on major national brands.

And so, we are now under new ownership and we have some exciting news for all of our long-time customers! Very soon, customers will be able to use the Wells Fargo parking lot behind the store Monday through Friday after 4pm and all day Saturday and Sunday. Please be patient with us and do not park there yet until the lease is finalized. For now, we encourage you to use our back entrance on 37th Street where there is usually plenty of street parking and our express carry-outs help you get your order efficiently and conveniently! Tastings will continue to be a prominent part of our business, with tastings every Friday evening, 5pm to 8pm, and Saturday, 2pm to 5pm. Of course, whatever we don't finish pouring we will have open for you to taste on Sunday if you miss our tastings. We will continue our tradition of giving you, the customer, the "Riedel Glass Treatment." No wine in plastic cups, ever.

And please add to your calendar Thursday evening, November 14th for our smashing and grand Annual Champagne Tasting at Old Europe. Tickets are $40 per person and you can purchase tickets here. As usual, we will pour 30 to 40 champagnes and have a raffle for three champagnes, including a 3-Liter bottle of Boizel, signed by the winemaker! Finally, please have a look at our tasting schedule below for October and November- there are many exciting events ahead!

UPCOMING TASTINGS THIS FALL

Friday, October 25, 5pm to 8pm: The French wines of the Boisset Family Portfolio. Export manager and longtime friend, Neil Ruane, will guide you through some of France's most exciting wine regions and pour some of our staff picks that are at great prices. Wines being poured will include: JCB "Ursulines" Pinot Noir & Chardonnay, Mommessin St. Amour, JCB Aligoté "Moutots," JCB #69 Sparkling Brut Rosé, and Bouchard-Ainé Fixin "La Mazière." Also, Avalon Haas from Catoctin Creek distillery from Purcellville, VA will be pouring a wide range of their rye whiskey, gin, and brandy.

Saturday, October 26, 2pm to 5pm: Penfolds, one of the most iconic wineries in Australia and the world. Longtime customer and friend, Brian Leger, will explain the magic behind Penfolds and will discuss their new labels from the Max's series as well as some of the bigger and bolder wines from the Bin series.

Tuesday, October 29, 4pm to 6pm: Surprise tasting with Laurent from Fortant winery in the Languedoc. He will be pouring a selection of new release wines to the market, including Picpoult de Pinet, Minervois, and St. Chinian.

Saturday, November 2, 2pm to 5pm: Special engraving of Woodford Reserve, featuring our very own Pearson's barrel "Grade A Select" Straight Bourbon. This outstanding bourbon is one of our best barrel programs we have ever selected and the engraving makes for excellent gifts over the holiday season. Please buy your bottle or 6-bottle case before the tasting here

Friday, November 8, 5pm to 8pm: Special winemaker visit: Jon Lauer of Bryn Mawr Vineyards. He will pour a selection of most of their wines, including their perfect everyday Pinot Noir and some of the serious single-vineyard whites and reds.

Saturday, November 9, 2pm to 5pm: French wine selections from Maison Marques and Domaines, including our best-selling Cotes-du-Rhone from Delas Frères.

Thursday, November 14, 5pm to 8pm: Don't miss our biggest and grandest tasting of the year!

Pearson's Wine & Spirits is pleased to announce that we will be having another extraordinary Champagne tasting on Thursday, November 14th, from 5pm to 8pm at Old Europe Restaurant, 2nd Floor. Our regular customers can attest that this is one of the best and most fun wine events in DC! There will be good food and, of course, great Champagne from some of the most iconic Champagne houses to the small grower producers. We will also have a raffle at three different times in the evening. Our grand prize this year will be a Jeroboam (3-Liter) of Champagne, signed by the winemaker! Tickets are $40 per person.
